Troopers say just after 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan.4, a pedestrian was struck and killed while lying in the road on US-378 near US-401 north of Sumter. Sumter Co. coroner identifies person who died after stabbing

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Sumter County Coroner Robert Baker has identified a 45-year-old after he died at a hospital. Officials say Rodney Herrington died at Prisma Health Tuomey after receiving a stabbing wound. According to the coroner’s office, the stabbing happened around 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2026.
