The 36-year-old Kamilaroi-Dunghutti man had gone to the emergency ward two days earlier, describing a "10 out of 10" pain and "popping" in his abdomen. He spent 19 hours at the hospital before being sent home with a diagnosis of cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome (CHS) Senior emergency doctor Sokol Nushaj told the inquest he made an "erroneous impression" of Mr Hampson's condition.See the Story

He had been misdiagnosed with cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome, an illness caused by long-term cannabis use. The 36-year-old father of eight had presented to the hospital with severe abdominal pain and a "popping" sensation in his stomach.
