Just before Christmas break, Swore, 61, announced he was retiring as the school’s dean of students.

A positive influence
Carson City · Carson CityAt its 20-minute meeting Monday evening, the Carson City-Crystal Area Schools Board of Education unanimously approved an agreement to lease two school buses. All seven board members were present. According to Superintendent John Sattler, the district has an arrangement where they rotate leasing three buses one year, three the next and two the next.

CC-Crystal school board approves bus leases
Carson City · Carson CityFive Montcalm County communities now offer free recycling services to the general public. County and city officials celebrated the opening of new recycling compactors in Stanton with a ribbon-cutting on Dec. 20. The two compactors — one for cardboard and the other for paper, plastic, metal, glass and cartons — are located at 652 N. Williams St. just south of Carson City Hall and the Fire Barn.
