According to an analysis by Indeed, a job search platform, summer job postings in early May 2025 were 22% lower than the same period last year, with a sharp drop in demand for summer camp counselors, lifeguards, painters and instructors of various courses. Indeed economist Brendon Bernard told the Toronto Star: "The job market is slowing down, and it is particularly affecting young people."
