Aaron Judge to Have Rib Reimaged Soon, but Yankees Don’t Expect ‘Clean’ Results Yet
The Yankees hope new imaging shows Aaron Judge’s rib is healing enough to clear the next step in his rehab.
The New York Yankees announced on Thursday that Aaron Judge will undergo rib re-imaging during the All-Star break, six weeks after landing on the injured list with a fractured first right rib.
Judge has been sidelined since June with a fractured first right rib, forcing the New York Yankees to navigate the American League East with a 50-42 record, trailing the Tampa Bay Rays.
General Manager Brian Cashman said they do not anticipate the imaging will be "clean," though they hope it shows healing; Judge remains restricted from upper-body exercises stressing his ribcage.
The New York Yankees have recorded 15 losses in their last 20 games entering Thursday. Meanwhile, designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton has "just started running a little bit," Cashman said.
Despite being out of commission, Judge was still named an MLB All-Star this year. The team hopes the imaging evaluation provides medical clarity on his recovery timeline.
