The leaders said Trump’s Golden Dome plan threatens global stability and noted no breakthrough on a major new gas pipeline deal.
On Wednesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin met in Beijing, condemning President Donald Trump's 'Golden Dome' missile defense plan and criticizing Washington's 'irresponsible' nuclear policy.
The leaders, who have met more than 40 times, reaffirmed their 'comprehensive partnership,' stressing the closeness of relations sealed in 2022, less than three weeks before Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Despite expectations, the sides announced no breakthrough on the prospective 2,600-km Power of Siberia 2 pipeline, which would transport 50 billion cubic meters of gas annually via Mongolia.
Patricia Kim, a foreign policy fellow at the Washington-based Brookings Institution, said Xi 'does appear to hold the stronger position' relative to both Putin and Trump.
In a joint declaration, the two sides accused the United States and Israel of violating international law by attacking Iran, warning of a return to the 'law of the jungle.
