X Square Robot Unveils New Embodied AI Model, Says Robots Will Arrive in Homes in 35 Days

Backed by Alibaba, ByteDance, Xiaomi and Meituan, the company said Wall-B combines vision, language and action in one system.

  • On Tuesday, Beijing-based Square Robot unveiled Wall-B, a new embodied AI foundation model for home robots backed by Alibaba, ByteDance, Xiaomi, and Meituan. The company plans to begin household deployments within 35 days.
  • The World Unified Model architecture integrates vision, language, action, and physical prediction into a single system from the outset. Unlike modular systems that train capabilities separately, this framework optimizes them jointly to enable general-purpose home robots.
  • CEO Qian Wang said, "Robots in factories and robots in homes are fundamentally different." Factory robots repeat one action 10,000 times, while home robots need 10,000 different actions in varied contexts.
  • Adjusting its grip in real time, a robot arranged flowers during a live demonstration without pre-set trajectories. Continuous operation in live environments generates data for rapid system improvement, the company stated.
  • Despite the upcoming pilot, Square Robot acknowledged that the technology remains early. The firm faces the challenge of executing new, untrained actions in unstructured household settings, moving beyond factory-robotics repetition.
