X launches US Cashtag Program with Coinbase and Kraken
Users can view asset details and move to partner brokerages, while X keeps trade execution on outside platforms.
- X launched the Cashtag Partner Program in the United States on Wednesday, allowing users to trade stocks, ETFs, and cryptocurrencies directly through five brokerage partners after discovering assets on the platform.
- This rollout builds on smart cashtags introduced earlier in Canada, which provided live charts and cryptocurrency contract addresses to users before enabling direct brokerage access on the platform.
- Initial partners include Coinbase, Gemini, Kraken, Interactive Brokers, and Moomoo. Users tap a supported ticker to view market information and charts, then select a brokerage partner to complete the transaction on that company's platform.
- X does not execute trades or hold assets; instead, it routes users to external platforms where individual brokerage onboarding, identity verification, and product availability rules apply based on each provider's requirements.
- The company continues developing its Everything App model, having secured money-transmitter licenses across more than 40 states in the United States and Washington, plus a partnership with Visa for account transfers.
