WARRIORS PROMOTE WYATT HEAD TO HEAD COACH/AGM

The West Kelowna Warriors are proud to announce the promotion of Wyatt Head to Head Coach and Assistant General Manager. Wyatt served the last two seasons as an Assistant Coach of the Warriors under former Head Coach Simon Ferguson.  He was part of the staff last year that led the team to a first-place finish in the BCHL and franchise records in wins and winning percentage.  During this record setting campaign, Wyatt oversaw the defense, a group that allowed the fewest goals against in the BCHL.  Prior to coaching in West Kelowna, Wyatt spent a year behind the bench for the Okanagan Rockets U18 AAA. John Murphy, owner of the Warriors, stated, “We are incredibly excited for Wyatt to be the Head Coach of our hockey club.  Our organization has worked hard over the past several years to establish a strong and winning culture, and Wyatt has been a big part of the success we have seen.  However, we want to take another step and believe Wyatt is the leader to take us there.  He has a strong hockey mind and brings energy and competitive fire to the rink every day.  Everyone in the organization is ready to support Wyatt as we work to bring a championship to West Kelowna.” Wyatt was born and raised in Kelowna.  He played minor hockey in the area before joining the West Kelowna Warriors.  Warriors fans will remember Wyatt as a high scoring defenseman who played 143 games for the team spanning four seasons.  Following his junior career, Wyatt played NCAA Division I hockey for Quinnipiac University and Mercyhurst. New Head Coach and Assistant General Manager Wyatt Head shared his thoughts about the new role: “I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to become the Head Coach of the West Kelowna Warriors. It is truly special to have played for and coached with the same franchise, and I am proud to continue being part of this organization in a new role. “My goal is to make the rink a place where our players and staff genuinely enjoy coming to work every day. We want to build a strong culture rooted in trust, accountability, hard work, and a genuine commitment to one another. I want our team to be close-knit while maintaining the competitive standard required to succeed. “I would like to thank John Murphy and Rod Hume for trusting me with the opportunity to lead this team. I am excited for training camp, eager to get to work, and looking forward to building something special with the group we have assembled.” Rod Hume, owner and CEO of the Warriors, commented, “I am excited for Wyatt to take on this new role and be our leader.  We know Wyatt well and he shares our values, including a passion for development that will be an invaluable asset for not just the Warriors, but our entire organization.” Wyatt and his staff will welcome players to training camp on September 4th.  The exhibition season kicks off at Royal LePage Place on September 7th at 5pm, followed by the home opener on Friday, September 18th at 7:00pm against the Cranbrook Bucks.
