World’s most luxurious yacht to dock in London marked with new artwork
The 120cm circular oil painting places Scenic Eclipse II in Canaletto’s Greenwich scene as the yacht makes its first London visit, the company said.
On July 31, the expedition yacht Scenic Eclipse II will dock at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, where a new artwork by painter Tai Shan Schierenberg will be unveiled during the vessel's first London visit.
Schierenberg reinterprets Canaletto's 18th-century Thames views, placing the modern vessel within the historic setting to bridge London's maritime past with contemporary exploration. The commission draws on almost three centuries of artistic tradition.
The 120cm circular oil painting utilizes the yacht's portholes and navigational instruments to frame both vessel and landmark. Scenic Eclipse II features two helicopters, a custom-built submersible, and up to 10 dining experiences aboard.
Nichola Absalom, Managing Director of Sales and Marketing at Scenic Group, called the unveiling a "truly special moment" connecting Greenwich's maritime heritage with the yacht's exploration focus. The arrival symbolizes continuity between historic hospitality and modern discovery.
Following its brief Greenwich stay, the vessel will sail to Hamburg, continuing expeditions designed to explore the Mediterranean and Caribbean through to Antarctica and the Arctic. The journey extends Scenic Eclipse II's global discovery mission.
