The world's longest highway tunnel, the Tianshan-Shengli, has opened in China's Xinjiang region. This impressive €5.6 billion investment not only shortens travel time through the mountains from three hours to just 20 minutes, but also sets new standards in infrastructure construction.
The 22.1-kilometer tunnel, stretching across the snow-covered Tian Shan Mountains, allows vehicles to overcome the once impassable geographical barrier in just 20 minutes at a maximum speed of 100 km/h.
