Mojang and Merlin Announce Minecraft World Hotel at Chessington for 2027
The 50 million project will add the world’s first Minecraft rollercoaster and a 69-room hotel with themed dining and bar spaces.
On Saturday, Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios announced the Minecraft World Hotel, scheduled to open in 2027 at Chessington World of Adventures in south-west London.
This £50 million venture creates an immersive land featuring the world's first Minecraft rollercoaster, Escape The Nether, with developers currently fitting tracks for the ride.
The four-storey hotel will feature 69 rooms—20 premium and 49 standard—alongside an underwater-themed restaurant and a bar inspired by the game's Woodland Mansion.
Filip Keatley Thoms, Creative Lead for Minecraft Parks and Experiences at Mojang Studios, said the project aims to create an experience that "feels authentically Minecraft."
"Not only will fans be able to experience the game imagined for real life, but they'll be also able to sleep inside it," Daisy Mercedes, creative producer at Merlin Entertainments, said. Online bookings save visitors up to 50 per cent.
