Worker Dead After Incident on Flamboro Speedway Racetrack, Hamilton Police Say
Hamilton police said the worker died after an accident on the track, and the Ministry of Labour has taken over the investigation.
- A worker died following an accident at Flamboro Speedway on Saturday night. Hamilton Police Service responded to the racetrack on 5th Concession Road West in Flamborough at approximately 9:15 p.m.
- The speedway was hosting a night of racing including a "Christmas in July" toy drive and meet-the-drivers event. The main event was scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. with multiple races planned.
- Emergency crews transported the injured employee to Hamilton General Hospital, where they died from their injuries. Hamilton Police patrol officers, detectives, and forensic services attended the scene.
- The Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development has taken over the investigation. Hamilton Police officers initially assisted with the preliminary inquiry before the ministry assumed full carriage.
- Investigators have not released details about the accident circumstances or the victim's identity. Questions regarding the ongoing investigation are being directed to the Ontario Ministry of Labour.
