Person Dies After Being Crushed by Tour Bus at Wolf Trap; Squeeze Concert Canceled
Police said the bus’s support apparatus failed, crushing the worker and forcing the cancellation of Thursday night’s show.
On Thursday, a worker died at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts in Vienna, Virginia, after a tour bus belonging to British rock band Squeeze collapsed on him in the parking lot.
Following the fatal accident, Squeeze cancelled their scheduled Thursday evening performance, issuing a statement that they were "deeply saddened and shocked" by the loss of life.
United States Park Police officers responded to 1551 Trap Road around 5 p.m. on Thursday, reporting, "The worker was underneath the bus when the apparatus supporting it failed."
Wolf Trap National Park confirmed the cancellation, stating, "There was an accident involving a member of the community," and ceased all operations for the evening out of respect.
Squeeze remains on their United States tour, scheduled to perform next at the Rose Music Center in Huber Heights, Ohio, while Wolf Trap reopens tonight for the National Symphony Orchestra.
