Woody Harrelson to Be Honored at Sarajevo Film Festival
Actor Woody Harrelson to receive the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo for his outstanding film career, including multiple Oscar nominations and acclaimed roles.
- On Monday, the 32nd Sarajevo Film Festival announced that Oscar-nominated actor Woody Harrelson will receive the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo, recognizing his "outstanding contribution to the film industry and an exceptional acting career" during the festival running August 14 to 21.
- Sarajevo Film Festival director Jovan Marjanovic praised Harrelson as "one of those actors you believe in even in the most improbable roles," citing his three Oscar nominations including *The People vs. Larry Flynt* and *Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri*.
- To coincide with the honor, the festival will screen Michael Winterbottom's 1997 film *Welcome to Sarajevo*, a "powerful examination of the war in Bosnia" that originally screened at the 3rd Sarajevo Film Festival.
- Bosnian actor Emir Hadzihafizbegovic will also receive the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo this year, while the festival will close with a 25th anniversary screening of Danis Tanovic's *No Man's Land*.
- Harrelson joins 2026 honorees Emily Watson, Asghar Farhadi, and Diego Luna, with Watson also presiding over the festival's competition jury.
