Woman Tells U.K. Court that Comedian Russell Brand Treated Her Like an Animal
A woman told jurors the encounter turned non-consensual after Brand removed a condom and forced anal sex, while he denies seven charges from six women.
- On Tuesday, a witness testified at Southwark Crown Court in the trial of Russell Brand, the 51-year-old comedian facing seven charges including rape and sexual assault. Brand denies all allegations.
- The complainant alleged that a consensual encounter at Brand's £2.3 million Hampstead home turned into rape when he forced her into non-consensual anal sex. She described the bedroom as having "quite a gothic feel."
- Jurors heard evidence that Brand later sent a "random" text message stating he wanted to "push her further." When challenged, Brand allegedly replied, "Because you are dirty and I want to push you further."
- Defense barrister Ian Winter KC questioned the witness on why she had not reported the incident earlier. The woman also testified about a separate alleged attack at Choice FM in London during the mid-2000s.
- Brand's defense team maintains all past sexual encounters were fully consensual and have been "reimagined" by his accusers. The trial spans a 10-year period from 1999 to 2009 and is expected to last around six weeks.
