Woman, 20, Arrested on Suspicion of Arson in Connection with Dovestone Reservoir Fire
Firefighters continued battling the blaze as smoke spread across Greater Manchester, while detectives detained a 20-year-old woman for questioning.
On Tuesday, Shania Care-Slede, 20, of Market Street, Hyde, appeared at Manchester Magistrates' Court charged with aggravated arson and dangerous driving relating to the Dovestone Reservoir wildfire.
Fireworks allegedly released at the Saddleworth beauty spot on Saturday night sparked a blaze that prompted a major incident declaration at Dovestone Reservoir.
Around 70 firefighters from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service continue tackling the blaze using hose lines to reduce hotspots while monitoring weather conditions influencing smoke spread.
Detective Inspector Andrew Day is reviewing all evidence to identify other individuals involved, urging the public to report information via the Dovestones Fire Evidence Submission Portal.
With criminal proceedings active, Greater Manchester Police encouraged the public to avoid online speculation while continuing to pursue lines of enquiry identifying any other individuals involved.
