- After a call from a homeowner overseas requesting a welfare check, deputies were sent because the concerned father could not reach his family, who moved from Missouri about three years ago.
- Deputies said inside they found a 14-year-old boy, an 11-year-old girl and their 44-year-old mother dead in separate rooms, and investigators say they are confident this was a murder-suicide with no one else entering or leaving.
- Investigators say the probe is active and detectives are processing the scene and reviewing evidence, while The Lake Club at Lakewood Ranch HOA acknowledged the tragedy and neighbors in the Lake Club community expressed shock.
