NGOs, scientists, park owners and state representatives: all were gathered this Monday, February 16th at the Ministry of Ecological Transition to try to decide on the future of the cetaceans of Marineland. Although the transfer of dolphins has been announced, the transfer of Wikie and Keijo remains uncertain.

Faced with an emergency situation in the Marineland of Antibes and deep disagreements over the proposed sanctuary off Canada, the minister responsible for ecological transition announced that he would seriously consider the transfer of the last two French orcas to Spain.

After the adoption of a law in 2021 prohibiting the captivity of cetaceans, the Antibes water park closed in January 2025. The future of two of its residents is at the heart of the debate. Many hope that a crisis meeting, organised this Monday, February 16 at the Ministry of Ecological Transition, will finally help to find a solution.
