The large fire at the Kamp Beverlo military domain, on the border between Leopoldsburg and Beringen, is under control. The fire likely started naturally. "We suspect that no one was involved," says the mayor of Leopoldsburg. Mop-up operations will continue tonight and tomorrow. A drone is also being deployed to check if the fire flares up again.
Belgian authorities have reported a major fire at the Kamp Beverlo military training ground in northeastern Belgium. The wind caused the fire to spread rapidly. According to Minister of Defence Theo Francken, the fire is now under control.
