- The APC Governors Forum, chaired by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, has publicly opposed the coalition, fearing the cross-party arrangement could undermine the All Progressives Congress's candidates and jeopardize the party's standing in the 2027 general elections.
- "They are politically lazy," Wike said, criticizing the governors. He challenged Uzodimma's effectiveness, noting that while APC candidates won two senatorial seats in Imo State in 2023, Tinubu secured less than 15 per cent of the presidential votes cast in the state.
- Regarding the coalition's purpose, Wike stated, "Most importantly, the Rainbow Coalition has nothing to do with the APC," emphasizing that the initiative focuses solely on mobilizing broad support for the president.
- Grassroots mobilization, not court declarations, should drive electoral success, the minister argued. He suggested that after the president's re-election, parties can return to competing for governorship and National Assembly seats in their respective states.
