Wifo: Retail Trade Remains Under Pressure

While consumers have recently become slightly more optimistic, companies' assessment of the situation is stagnating at a low level, a study carried out by the Austrian Institute for Economic Research (WIFO) on behalf of the Handelsverband shows that private consumption expenditure in 2025 is expected to grow by only 0.4% in real terms and that the saving rate remains high at 10.8 percent.
