- On Friday, Chief Press Secretary Tersoo Kula announced an investigation into a Toyota Land Cruiser used by Peter Obi during his recent Makurdi visit, linking the vehicle to former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom.
- The investigation follows a disruption last Tuesday, when youths blocked Obi's convoy near Gyado Villa as he traveled to Yelewata for a condolence visit to massacre victims.
- Kula alleged the Toyota Land Cruiser with registration number GWA 608 BT was registered to Ortom's address in Judges Quarters, according to Federal Road Safety Corps records.
- Through media aide Terver Akase, former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom dismissed the accusations, stating that refusing to assist a fellow leader would have been "petty."
- While Ortom publicly supports President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 election, the controversy highlights political tensions within the Peoples Democratic Party as the government questions his actual allegiances.
