Why Julia Stiles and Sean Patrick Thomas Haven't Ruled Out a Save the Last Dance Sequel
Stiles and Ezra Sosa earned a 33 out of 40 after reviving the film’s chair choreography, with Sean Patrick Thomas cheering from the audience.
- On Tuesday, Julia Stiles performed a tribute to her 2001 film 'Save the Last Dance' during the 'Super Bowl Night' episode of 'Dancing with the Stars', dancing with partner Ezra Sosa to Jennifer Lopez's 'Jenny From the Block'.
- The routine recreated the film's iconic Juilliard audition scene where Stiles' character Sara Johnson blended ballet with hip-hop, a style she learned from love interest Derek Reynolds, played by Sean Patrick Thomas, in the original movie.
- Thomas, Stiles' former co-star, surprised the audience with an appearance, standing on the sidelines to reenact his supportive role from the movie's audition scene with a jacket slung over his shoulder.
- Judges awarded Stiles and Sosa a combined score of 33 out of 40, placing them fourth for the evening, as fans and celebrities praised the nostalgic tribute to the millennial favorite.
- While this performance served as a 25-year reunion, Thomas and Stiles have previously discussed sequel difficulties, though Thomas remains open to ideas if a plausible concept emerges.
