It’s Official: Designer Kim Jones’s Eponymous Label Is Set for a Comeback
Designer Kim Jones is launching a signature label debuting in fall 2027, with designs predominantly made in Japan and leather goods from Italy. The collection releases online mid-2027, followed by a store opening at Central Yards in Hong Kong next October.
After leaving Fendi and Dior Homme in 2024 and 2025 respectively, Jones pivoted toward Asia, seeking new consumer bases and cultural exchange. He stated in an October 2025 interview that "Asia is the future," reflecting his long-held conviction.
The collection features "a broader wardrobe unrestricted by traditional categories" with "versatility at its core," offering fluid, genderless designs. Jones intends to price items at "a considered price point," utilizing local craftsmanship from both regions.
While Hong Kong has traditionally served as a financial hub rather than a fashion capital, recent initiatives like the Hong Kong Fashion Fest are fostering a growing local creative scene. This supports Jones's retail strategy in the region.
Jones joins other Western fashion designers capitalizing on Eastern opportunities: Francesco Risso, former creative director of Marni, became creative director for GU, while Chinese brand Icicle hired former Gucci designer Sabato de Sarno.
