Hornets Coach Charles Lee Benches Naz Reid at Halftime for Failing to Meet Team Standards
Coach Charles Lee benched Naz Reid after halftime because he did not meet the Hornets' standards, and Reid finished with seven points in 13 minutes.
On Wednesday, Charlotte Hornets head coach Charles Lee benched forward Naz Reid for the entire second half of a 97-89 loss to the Detroit Pistons at Little Caesars Arena.
Lee told reporters postgame that Reid "didn't meet our standards in the first half," prompting the decision to keep him benched for the final 24 minutes.
Reid, the 2024 Sixth Man of the Year acquired from the Minnesota Timberwolves, started and recorded seven points on 2-of-6 shooting during 13 minutes of first-half play.
Royce O'Neale replaced Reid to start the second half, while Detroit used a 16-5 third-quarter run to pull away and secure the victory.
Life moves fast in the NBA, and the Hornets have less than 48 hours until they face the Washington Wizards and AJ Dybantsa on Friday.
