Charlotte Hornets to Retire Jersey of Muggsy Bogues
The former point guard remains Charlotte’s franchise leader in assists, steals and minutes and will join Dell Curry and Bobby Phills in the rafters.
On February 11, 2027, the Charlotte Hornets will retire Muggsy Bogues' No. 1 jersey during halftime of their game against the Milwaukee Bucks at the Spectrum Center.
Hornets Co-Chairmen Rick Schnall and Gabe Plotkin decided to retire the jersey to honor players who helped build the franchise and maintain connectivity with its history.
Standing 5-foot-3, Bogues holds the record as the shortest player in NBA history and remains Charlotte's franchise leader in assists , steals , and minutes over 632 games.
Joining Bobby Phills and Dell Curry as the only players with retired jerseys, Bogues has remained connected to Charlotte as an NBA ambassador and through his Muggsy Bogues Family Foundation.
Beyond the court, Bogues inspired future players and mentored youth through charitable efforts, continuing to represent the organization at fan activities throughout the Carolinas.
