- The WHO is contacting Russian health authorities to verify circumstances, laboratory test results, and contact-tracing efforts. According to the organization, public health risk to the general population currently appears low.
- Russia's health watchdog, Rospotrebnadzor, reported no evidence of an accident involving pathogens at the institute. International Health Regulations require countries to respond to health inquiries within 24 hours.
