Fairground worker dies after suffering 'serious head injuries', police say
A fairground worker in his 20s died from serious head injuries after a workplace accident at a busy funfair, prompting a Health and Safety Executive investigation.
On August 23, emergency responders attended to a serious injury sustained on a ride at the funfair located near Spanish City in Whitley Bay.
The incident occurred following a report received shortly after 2:15pm about a man who sustained injuries while working at the funfair.
Paramedics, a clinical team leader, rapid response unit, air ambulance, and an off-duty medic attended while the funfair was closed to the public.
A man in his 20s sustained severe head injuries on the Experience ride and was later pronounced dead, with police expressing their condolences to his family during this challenging period.
Officials have reached out to the Health and Safety Executive to support the investigation, and the funfair remains closed while Northumbria Police provide further updates.
