Finance minister reaffirms commitment to adopting the euro
Hungary remains committed to introducing the euro and has undertaken to meet the Maastricht convergence criteria by 2030, Finance Minister András Kármán wrote on Monday ahead of the visit of Eurogroup President Kyriakos Pierrakakis, who is due to arrive in Hungary on Thursday.
The Minister of Finance, who also discussed the euro in addition to the interest rate freeze, made it clear that it is important and symbolic that the President of the Eurogroup will visit us soon.
The President of the Eurogroup will arrive in Hungary on Thursday. He will meet with Péter Magyar and András Kármán. In his post announcing this, the Hungarian Minister of Finance confirmed the government's commitment to the introduction of the euro and also touched on the future of the interest rate freeze.
The Minister of Finance still expects longer consultations among cabinet members.
