When the Kalmyks came to Cloudcroft

When my mother, Barbara McDonald, née Roach, was in her last years of high school in Cloudcroft, New Mexico, a group of Kalmyks came to the area and some of them were hired to work on her family’s farm. The farm was actually four farms : my great-grandfather’s, my grandfather’s, and my two great uncles’ who owned connected farms on the Agua Chiquita.
