What to Know About Kate Middleton's New Project on Nature and Kids
- The Princess of Wales, Princess Kate, has commissioned a research project through the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood examining how nature supports the social and emotional development of babies and young children.
- On Thursday, the princess and Prince William made a private visit to the Duchy of Cornwall's Nansledan site in Newquay to explore nature-based learning potential during the earliest years of life.
- Catherine warned of an 'epidemic of disconnection' from excessive screens, stating that 'spending quality time outdoors has never been more important' in this 'digital age' to nurture essential emotional skills.
- Describing the initiative as her 'life's work,' the princess aims to 'build supportive environments' that make nature more accessible for families, though no funding has been announced thus far.
- Reggio Emilia, Italy, provided the model for this study, which seeks to integrate nature into education, with the Duchy potentially providing future sites for educational visits supporting healthy development.
