The US dollar exchange rate against the Turkish lira has reached a historic high, exceeding 50 liras for the first time.
The dollar's exchange rate for Turkish lire on Wednesday was more than 50 lire for the first time in history (adjusted for Turkey's denomination in 2005), as evidenced by the trade data.
Turkey's lowest historical level, after exceeding the 50-litre dollar barrier, traded at 50.02 lire for the dollar on the Istanbul Stock Exchange, a slight increase of 0.05%. During the current year, the value of the lire against the dollar fell by more than 18%, after losing about 25% of its value in 2025.
In the Istanbul free market, the selling price of the dollar rose to 50.0210 Turkish lira on November 4th, while the selling price of the euro reached 56.2550 Turkish lira. The dollar, which was sold at 49.9970 lira the previous day, started the new day above the 50 lira mark.
