What Chicago Bears Compete With For ‘Highest-Scoring Offense Ever’
Johnson says Chicago must average 37.9 points a game to top the 2013 Broncos and chase the NFL’s highest-scoring offense.
Chicago Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson outlined ambitious goals for the 2026 season in a Wednesday profile, stating he wants to build the highest-scoring offense ever by surpassing the 2013 Denver Broncos' NFL-record 37.9 points per game.
After Chicago's breakthrough 11-6 season and NFC North title last year, Johnson raised his vision beyond winning a Super Bowl, telling players one year ago he wants to build a dynasty in Chicago.
Johnson praised quarterback Caleb Williams, saying "it's just a matter of time" for the third-year star to unlock his full potential, while reaching the record requires averaging 35.7 points per game over 17 games.
Chicago invested $30 million in linebacker Devin Bush to fix a defense that finished 29th in total defense despite winning 11 games, though the Bears lost defensive back Coby Bryant to knee surgery for at least four months.
Facing the league's toughest schedule featuring title contenders like the Eagles, Patriots, Seahawks, Bills and Jaguars, Johnson emphasized keeping his "foot on the gas" for all 60 minutes, with five of eight difficult games played at home.
