Flying Scotsman to appear at Greatest Gathering event

The Flying Scotsman will reopen the full Severn Valley Railway line to Bridgnorth with public services resuming on July 25, 2025.
This reopening follows an embankment collapse in January that isolated Bridgnorth and left part of the 16.5-mile heritage line unusable for months.
The Flying Scotsman will operate three daily return journeys throughout the SVR’s celebration of the line’s 60 years in preservation, known as the Swingin’ Sixties event.
Return tickets priced at £45 must be reserved in advance from June 18 and include the benefit of unlimited journeys on all Swingin’ Sixties services throughout the event days, Jonathan Dunster remarked, calling it "an incredible achievement."
The National Railway Museum and partners supported this visit to mark SVR’s recovery and celebrate the 200th railway anniversary, with the Flying Scotsman paired with SVR’s Gresley teak carriages for a notable occasion.
