Wetherspoon to open new pubs in partnership with popular chain
The partnership will create hundreds of jobs and restore community venues, with franchise agreements expanding Wetherspoon's presence beyond traditional high streets, Papas Group said.
- JD Wetherspoon announced a 15‑pub franchise deal with The Papas Group, with The Hykeham Manor opening at Gateway Park, Lincoln on October 1.
- Wetherspoon had already developed franchise ties with Haven Holiday Parks and universities, operating five franchised sites including partnerships with Newcastle University and Hull University, following last year's Haven partnership announcement.
- Three more pubs will open in October and November in Annitsford, North Tyneside; Stockton-on-Tees, Co Durham; and Emersons Green, Bristol, while additional venues launch later this month.
- Andrew Papas, director of The Papas Group, said `We are absolutely thrilled to be partnering with Wetherspoon to bring 15 new pubs to life across the UK`, with Haven investing 6.7 million into development.
- Recently, Wetherspoon opened venues in Marlow, Buckinghamshire and Douglas, Isle of Man, while Tim Martin, chief executive of JD Wetherspoon, reinstated the tuna jacket potato after a letter from Adam Gale, a Wetherspoon customer.
