The Groningen municipality of Westerwolde is once again appealing to the national government to ensure suitable accommodation for asylum seekers. "It is inhumane that people seeking protection in the Netherlands are forced to stay outside," says the municipality, under whose jurisdiction the registration center in Ter Apel falls.
The municipality of Westerwolde is concerned about the reception at the registration center in Ter Apel, now that aid organization MiGreat has stopped distributing tents. Without these tents, asylum seekers arriving at night risk ending up on the streets. The municipality calls on the national government and the COA to quickly come up with a structural solution.
