Miles Sadler added 16 points and nine assists as six Mountaineers scored in double figures in the rout.
On Monday, West Virginia defeated Niagara 91-46 at Hope Coliseum in the season opener. Freshman Miles Sadler led the Mountaineers with 16 points and nine assists in his collegiate debut.
Niagara jumped to an early 16-6 lead before West Virginia responded with a 23-3 run orchestrated by Sadler and Finley Bizjack. The Mountaineers shot 48.5% from the field by halftime to lead 43-30.
Sadler, a 6-foot guard from Bella Vista Prep in Scottsdale, Arizona, shot 6 of 14 from the field with one 3-pointer and matched a team-high with three steals. Brenen Lorient and Martin Somerville added 13 and 12 points respectively.
Defensive intensity proved decisive; West Virginia forced 24 turnovers and held Niagara to just 16 points in the final 20 minutes. This suffocating pressure fueled the Mountaineers' dominant second-half performance.
The Mountaineers host the Stetson Hatters on Friday to continue their season. West Virginia enters the matchup with a 108-10 record in home openers, positioning them as strong favorites in the early-season test.
