Weezer Announce 'The Gold Album' with Mournful Single 'We Might As Well Be Strangers' Featuring Wednesday’s Karly Hartzman

- Weezer announced their 16th studio album, The Gold Album, set for release on August 21 via Reprise and Warner Records. This marks the seventh entry in the band's color-coded series.
- Frontman Rivers Cuomo and drummer Patrick Wilson focused on the "basics of a song" for the first time since 1994. Producers Kenneth Blume and Klas oversaw the 10-track LP, described as the "most violent Weezer album ever."
- The band shared their second preview, "We Might As Well Be Strangers," featuring Wednesday's Karly Hartzman. The track reflects on the aftermath of a breakup, following lead single "Shine Again."
- Weezer will embark on The Gathering tour starting September 08 in Sacramento, spanning 32 shows across North American cities. The tour concludes October 24 in Los Angeles with support from The Shins and Silversun Pickups.
- This release follows three decades since the 1994 debut, The Blue Album. The band, including Brian Bell and Scott Shriner, recently performed "Initiation" pop-up shows, including an intimate gig at Barney Beanery.
