Heavy Rain Alert Issued for Montreal for Tuesday
Environment Canada said 40 to 60 millimetres of rain could fall, with water pooling on roads and visibility dropping at times.
Environment Canada issued a rainfall warning for southwestern Quebec, including Montreal and the Montérégie region, on Tuesday, with heavy rain expected from afternoon through Tuesday night.
A nearly stationary warm front associated with a low-pressure system is driving the heavy rain as it stalls over the region, extending the precipitation period.
Rainfall amounts between 40 and 60 millimetres are possible, with Environment Canada warning that "significant impacts are expected due to rainfall amounts," including pooling water and reduced visibility.
Beyond the primary warning zone, The Eastern Townships and the Bois-Francs area could also see significant rain, prompting Environment Canada to issue a special weather statement for those regions.
Showers may persist into Wednesday morning, with motorists advised to exercise caution due to sudden visibility reductions from accumulated water on roadways.
