Wayfair announces departure from German market
Wayfair is exiting the German market after 15 years due to lagging sales and weak economic conditions, as stated by CEO Niraj Shah.
The company is cutting over 700 jobs globally, with layoffs affecting approximately 730 employees, according to Chief Finance Officer Kate Gulliver.
Wayfair plans to focus on physical retail stores and North American markets, having opened its first brick-and-mortar store in Chicago in May 2024.
The restructuring is expected to cost the company up to $111 million, and impacted employees will receive severance packages and job-placement support.
