Airlines are facing a wave of bankruptcies and mergers with competitors, warns Willie Walsh, the head of the airline association IATA, which says a combination of expensive fuel, disruption of key routes and stalled deliveries of new aircraft is to blame.
Airlines worldwide are struggling with higher fuel costs - some of them, according to the World Air Federation, are even threatening to collapse. However, the association praises a European airline.
