On Friday, 16-year-old Jeremiah Moran shot 17-year-old Camar Cordero in Harrisburg after Cordero stepped off a school bus. Cordero was pronounced dead at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital.
Captain Kyle Couch with Harrisburg Police confirmed that Moran and Cordero knew each other before the shooting. Investigators obtained video footage from the scene showing the incident.
Bystander Judith Weaver attempted to aid the victim at the scene, repeatedly calling his name and saying, "wake up, stay awake." Moran remains held at THE DAUPHIN COUNTY PRISON.
Mayor Wanda Williams expressed condolences on Saturday, stating, "No parent should ever have to bury a child." The Harrisburg School District is offering grief counseling following Cordero's death.
