Wake Forest Edges Purdue 38-36 in Double Overtime

On Saturday, Wake Forest quarterback Gio Lopez scored a 3-yard touchdown and converted the 2-point conversion in double overtime, lifting the Demon Deacons to a 38-36 victory over Purdue at Ross-Ade Stadium.
Purdue stood inches away from ending a 20-game losing streak against Power Four opponents, but the Boilermakers fell to the Demon Deacons in the high-stakes matchup.
Running back Fame Ijeboi racked up 114 yards and three touchdowns for Purdue, while quarterback Ryan Browne completed 32 of 43 passes for a career-high 329 yards.
Despite converting all five red zone trips, Purdue settled for field goals instead of touchdowns; Wake Forest's pivotal 4th-and-15 conversion in double overtime proved the difference.
Wake Forest hosts Miami on Friday, while Purdue travels to UCLA next Saturday seeking to recover from the narrow defeat in West Lafayette.
