Major Supermarket Becomes Latest UK Retailer to Raise Meal Deal Price to £5.50
The offer now costs £5.50, a 10% rise, as Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Co-op, Asda and Greggs have also lifted meal-deal prices.
Waitrose has raised its meal deal price from £5 to £5.50, marking a 10% increase and the first price hike since launching the offer in 2023.
Supermarkets like Greggs and Sainsbury's have also hiked meal deal costs in recent years, a trend Waitrose acknowledges while defending its offer as remaining "exceptional value for money."
Across the UK, Asda offers the lowest meal deal at £3.74, while Tesco and Co-op provide lower rates for loyalty card members, with Tesco at £3.85 and Co-op at £3.75.
Despite the price hike, Waitrose defends the meal deal citing high-quality ingredients; social media users note individual items would cost closer to £8 without the deal discount.
At the Leckford Estate, Waitrose has increased organic milk output by 74% since July 2023, reflecting a broader corporate strategy to prioritize whole foods amid growing consumer demand.
