Vinícius Júnior Goes Scoreless Again for Real Madrid in Champions League as Drought Reaches 9 Games
Bernardo Silva, Arda Güler and Kylian Mbappé scored as Madrid stayed perfect in Champions League play.
- Real Madrid defeated RB Leipzig 4-1 on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at the Santiago Bernabéu, extending their perfect Champions League league phase record to three consecutive victories.
- Bernardo Silva broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute with his first goal for the club, while Arda Guler doubled Madrid's advantage in the 52nd by exploiting the team's ability to manipulate half-spaces and bypass Leipzig's mid-block.
- Kylian Mbappe provided an assist for Guler before scoring a clinical curled strike in the 83rd minute. Substitute Yan Diomande sealed the victory with a "rocket of a volley" in the 87th minute.
- Vinicius Junior struggled to find rhythm during his return to the lineup, drawing boos after a first-half mistake. The team now shifts focus to Sunday's La Liga Clasico against Barcelona, a match Vinicius will miss due to suspension.
- Manager Jose Mourinho praised the team's tactical patience, noting success came from dominating possession and waiting for Leipzig to tire. Madrid remains among the European elite with nine points from three Champions League matches.
