Vietnam’s VinSpace Signs Deal with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to Launch Its First Satellites in 2027
VinSpace said the deal will send its first satellites on a shared SpaceX launch in 2027 as it builds toward a full-service aerospace business.
- On Tuesday, VinSpace, a unit of Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup, signed a launch contract with SpaceX. The satellites will launch aboard a SpaceX Transporter rideshare mission in 2027, joining multiple other customers on a shared flight.
- Founded by tycoon Pham Nhat Vuong, Vingroup is Vietnam's largest privately owned company. VinSpace, established in November 2025, was created to become a full-service aerospace firm developing satellites and launch capabilities.
- VinSpace will develop and operate satellites to test technology and support commercial applications. "Reliable access to space is fundamental to turning satellite innovation into operational missions," VinSpace CEO Thu said.
- Vietnam inaugurated a major space science and technology center in Hanoi's Hoa Lac High-Tech Park this March. The facility aims to expand the country's satellite development and utilization of space-based data.
- The country aims to become a mid-level space power in Southeast Asia by 2030, having also integrated Starlink satellite internet services. Starlink has since begun accepting orders in Vietnam.
