Pogacar Crashes Near Finish
TOULOUSE, FRANCE, JUL 16 – Jonas Abrahamsen claimed his first Tour de France stage win from a long breakaway as defending champion Tadej Pogacar crashed late but rejoined the peloton with rivals waiting, race officials said.
- On Wednesday, Tadej Pogacar crashed with 4km to go on stage 11 in Toulouse, yet he did not lose time in the general classification.
- Following Tuesday's rest day, stage 11 was billed as a likely sprint with 70 points at stake, but five small climbs kept the pace fast and nerve-wracking.
- After clipping another rider's wheel, Pogacar slid across the tarmac and his rivals waited while he reattached his chain on an otherwise undamaged bike.
- Ben Healy retained the yellow jersey, with Pogacar 29 seconds back and Evenepoel a minute further behind.
- The race heads into the Pyrenees on Thursday for a 180.6km mountain route from Auch to this year's first summit finish at Hautacam.
