Video shows 'small metal washer' from famed roller coaster came off, almost hit park guest in the head
Park officials said the coaster reopened after a thorough inspection and gave the guest 4 free meal vouchers.
On Sunday, June 21, Marisol Santiago posted a Facebook video showing a metal washer that fell from the Magnum XL-200 roller coaster at Cedar Point, narrowly missing her head.
In a statement issued to PEOPLE, Six Flags confirmed that "a small metal washer from the coaster's lift mechanism became detached" during the incident.
Cedar Point employees shut down the ride for approximately one hour, performed test rides, and carried out a "thorough inspection" before resuming normal operations.
Santiago received 4 free premium meal vouchers from staff, who thanked her for reporting the detached piece to ensure passenger safety.
The ride resumed full operations after the inspection confirmed safety, with Cedar Point prioritizing guest protection through immediate incident response and maintenance verification.
