Victims of Florida plane crash include a 20-year-old who got her pilot’s license as a teen

  • On Sunday, a private Learjet carrying tech entrepreneur Adam Robinson, his wife Helen Sharp, their two children, their nanny, and two friends crashed near Greenacres, Florida. All nine occupants died en route from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas.
  • Audio captured co-pilot Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras warning air traffic control of a rapid descent at 35,000 feet before the Learjet 60 went down. Investigators are examining weather conditions and 'coffin corner,' where a jet's speed range narrows at high altitude, making control difficult.
  • Robinson, a 45-year-old tech entrepreneur, led companies including Retention, RB2B, and MoltSets generating $35 million in annual revenue. He was a vocal bootstrapping proponent, posting: "You don't need to crash a plane to learn to fly... and you don't need VC to build a business."
  • Brett Hurt, a friend and mentor from Austin, called Robinson an "amazing conscious capitalist" and "beacon" for founders. Families remembered the victims as "devoted parents" whose children "were the light of their lives" as the tech community mourned.
  • National Transportation Safety Board investigators expect to remain at the crash site for several days recovering wreckage scattered across a significant distance. Authorities confirmed no individuals on the ground were injured or killed in the impact.
